AIR PROCESSINGWhat do we do about inside vehicles that is more polluted than the air outside?
Air inside vehicles is more polluted than the outside air! Car manufacturers are often confronted with a health challenge that imposes that they react due to the proven cancer risks caused by an increase in fine particles in the air. Thanks to its recognised mastery of thermal engineering, ARIAMIS is on the front line with the industrials for their upgrades to compliance.DAMNING EVIDENCE WITH A SIGNIFICANT HEALTH IMPACT
Surveys follow on from each other and the findings are conclusive: the air inside vehicles is more polluted than the air outside. As shows the survey carried out by ASEF (Association Santé Environnement France) in Paris, Marseilles and Grenoble, globally all particulate materials are considered to be carcinogens by the International Centre for cancer research. The increase in the level of fine particles in the air is a health risk factor (cardiovascular disease, altered lung functions, lung cancer). It has a direct effect on reduced life expectancy.
TECHNIQUES EXIST BUT HAVE NOT YET BEEN APPLIED
Car manufacturers are aware of the health challenges, of their delays and the legislative pressure that is about to be put on them to improve the air quality inside vehicles. The French government and the European Commission have already started to legislate on this subject. There are some still rather timid initiatives by industrials and the only satisfactory system is still only offered as an optional add-on.
WHY ARIAMIS IS AT THE CENTRE OF THE PASSENGER COMPARTMENT AIR CHALLENGE?
ARIAMIS’s expertise is at the centre of the technical systems that could offer genuine air handling solutions built into vehicles. Indeed, a vehicle’s thermal management consists in managing the different flows participating in the heating or cooling of the passenger compartment. The stakes are based on a certain number of technical elements of which ARIAMIS masters the engineering: air flow capture, processing and distribution.
Furthermore, manufacturers have already involved ARIAMIS in the research and development relative to the so-called “HEPA” filter, an air filter, short for High Efficiency Particulate Air. |
