HISTORYA response from a specialist in a world of generalists
The ARIAMIS engineering firm was born from the fact that the French market lacked truly specialised engineering. Using his experience with car manufacturers, the ARIAMIS CEO chose to focus his company’s scope of action. From engine layout to the challenges of thermal engineering, today ARIAMIS provides expertise focussed on thermal engineering applicable to various sectors of industry.
A FIRM OF ENGINEERS SPECIALISED IN ENGINE LAYOUT
At the beginning of the new century, the person who was to become the founder of ARIAMIS decided to carry out a market study on engineering alongside the Paris Chamber of Commerce and Industry. This led him to the United Kingdom and Germany to compare the profiles of companies, especially in the automotive industry, with those on the French market. His findings: beyond major generalised organisations, France had few specialised companies. He decided to create ARIAMIS in 2004, a centre of expertise focussed on engine layout. Its owner’s experience and contacts in the car manufacturing sector made it possible for ARIAMIS to quickly show its worth on major projects such as the Renault Logan, a multi-country, multi-specification vehicle.
TOWARDS AN OBVIOUS SPECIALISATION IN THERMOMANAGEMENT
ARIAMIS only took the path of specialising in thermal engineering four years after its creation. This was logical for several reasons. Firstly, heat exchange systems are the company founder’s field of expertise. Added to that is the fact that thermal engineering, whether cooling, air conditioning or heating, is a true challenge in terms of layout, as it cannot be automated. Since 2008, ARIAMIS has been working on components such as radiators, cooling circuits, exhausts, depollution etc. The team was rapidly expanded to follow the latest technological progresses as closely and quickly as possible, in a field in which the arrival of electric engines and the development of power electronics requires increasingly high levels of expertise. Currently, ARIAMIS has worked on almost all the coolant circuits on French vehicles. Every day, the CEO and his team prove that thermal engineering is a fully fledged source of progress to players in the automotive sector, but also the maritime, rail and aviation sectors.
